    RED ALERT!

Enbridge Energy has officially began construction of the largest piece of Fossil Fuel infrastructure in North America across Minnesota’s forests, wetlands & the Mississippi Headwaters. The time is NOW to build broad-based public opposition & support efforts on the ground. It is our hope that this #sNoLine3 campaign can be an effective means of spreading the word.

This 4-minute summary of the Line 3 battle and why we’re doing this is a great place to start & get to know what’s going on!

    What is “Line 3”?

“Line 3” is a Tar Sands Oil Pipeline being proposed to cross the headwaters of the Mississippi River near Itasca State Park in Northern Minnesota.

Although branded in the media as a “Replacement” of the existing, 50-year old Line 3, the NEW “Line 3” would deliver increased capacity and follow a completely different route across Minnesota’s pristine Lake Country.

    yeah but… Who Cares?

Well, here’s the thing. 98% of the scientific community has reached consensus that the climate IS changing, but as a skier/snowboarder you’ve probably already noticed things aren’t like they used to be here in Minnesnowta.

Did you hear about the recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Report? Or the Paris Climate Accord? We, as a species, have a very short amount of time to drastically reduce our carbon footprint. The IPCC has even suggested that timeline for radical change is but a mere decade. How old will you be in 10 years? Well, at whatever age that is, according to SCIENCE we cannot be using fossil fuels how we do today. We’re going to have to rethink just about everything we do from gas-powered cars to food, electricity, heating & cooling…  This is not the type of thing we should wait nine years to start working towards.

We, as concerned snowsports & active-outdoor enthusiasts, may not have exact solutions to going “100% Green” but one thing is certain – The Replacement Line 3 Pipeline Project is an investment in 50 years of increasing our extraction of, and dependence on, fossil fuels. It is, quite literally, a step in the exact wrong direction and there will be no turning back.

We Minnesotans, our State Government, our environmental allies and our First Nation Brothers & Sisters are the only thing that can stand in the way of expanding the dirtiest, most carbon-intensive source of fossil fuels on Planet Earth.

    Do you ride?

We’ve got some tools for people like you to help spread the #sNoLine3/#StopLine3 message. From social media “shareables” to stickers, merch and events, you’ve been officially called-out to make a splash in the ski & snowboard community as the 2020/2021 winter season moves forward.

    Wanna help?

#sNoLine3 is a decentralized coalition and needs people to help organize, talk, outreach, fundraise, and amplify the message. Long story short, we need YOU. According to Enbridge the new Line 3 will be operational before the 2020/2021 ski season is over – the time is NOW!
